Mary graduated from Purdue in 1979 and started working for an industrial controls sales/marketing firm. Fascinated by electronic control industry she took engineering classes at night. Soon she began traveling to customer’s facility, helping customers troubleshoot and find solutions to various electrical and mechanical applications.
She joined Tinder Co in 1986 helping Jim with his business, literally starting in the basement by sorting and organizing boxes of locks. Soon Tinder Locksmith Service was installing and servicing electric locks and access control systems. Electronic access control was a very young industry at the time and did not have the bells and whistles that are standard today so the Tinders incorporated sensors and logic controls in their designs that satisfied the needs of their customers.
Mary wears many hats at Tinder Co. She regularly continues her education to keep up with new technology and sharpen business skills. She is also an avid horsewoman, active in the Indiana Eventing Association. She is a ceramic artist, an animal lover with two blue Great Danes, Oz and Rumble, a terrier mix, Lily, 3 barn cats and 3 horses that all live on the Tinder farm. Mary is also a garden diva with a passion for flower and vegetable gardening, proudly sharing the produce with shop customers.
